ABOUT THE MINISTER

BISHOP THEOPHILUS OLUWASEGUN AKANO

Born into an Anglican Christian and devoted Family. His parents were very dedicated and principled. His late father was a priest who helped him strongly in the area of Christian faith and broadened his knowledge both in the study of God’s Word, Theological background and in Christian ministries.

At age 12, he had already joined the church choir and by age 15, Rev Akano had already been taking some active parts even in the house of God. By the Grace of God, he had his personal encounter with Christ in April 1989 when he was 17 years old, and as a result of this, he started seeking for God’s word in every area of life and the fear of God is very strong in his heart.

Theophilus Akano enrolled in a Theological college {Sanctuary and Liberty Evangelism Bible Institute affiliated to Oral Robert University} and was highly encouraged by his loving and great mentor, Late Bishop Moses Obaladele of blessed memory. Who took him on weekend studies while he did his school runs during the week and this led him obtaining his Dip. Th; BA. Th.; and MA. Th.

He later attended African College of Theology, Ifako, Lagos, Nigeria where he completed both his Diaconate and Priesthood Ordination {1998 & 2000} respectively. He was later the Vicar in Charge of three   great Churches successfully in Lagos Nigeria: Christ African Church, Ikotun, Lagos; African Church Salem, Egan & African Church Salem Mende, Maryland between 1998—2005. He later reached the status of a senior priest and God had really used him to serve and function in some other Christian bodies where he held some key roles before he relocated to United Kingdom for another glorious appointment.

In 2007, he pioneer and started the Christ Apostolic Church outreach, Manchester  and was the branch minister till 2009 when God fully called him to a new vision of starting Christhouse Bible Church in September 6, 2009, “Preaching hope to the hopeless via God’s restorative word of liberation” where he presides as the minister in charge till date and fully assisted by lovely wife, Rev. {Mrs} Sybil Seyidola Akano whom he met in 2008 and are happily married till date.

Theophilus Akano attended Apostolic Pastoral Congress {APC} training under the leadership of now Arch Bishop Doye Teido Agama, the Presidium of Apostolic Pastoral Congress and the former moderator of all churches together in England. Theophilus  was ordained again and licensed in United Kingdom & Northern Ireland as a priest in 2010.

Immediately after, Archbishop Doye Agama then appointed him as his chaplain/senior adjunctant in 2010

He Studied Contextual Theology and Urban ministries under the leadership of Arch Bishop Doye Agama of Apostolic Pastoral Congress and he is fully licensed as an ordained minister of the gospel in Great Britain and Ireland.

He was consecrated as Bishop on Saturday 10^th of September, 2016 in an Eucharist service held at St. Phillip’s Anglican Church, Gorton, Manchester, UK under the leadership of His spiritual Father and mentor, Most Reverend Julius Olayinka Abbe, the Present Archbishop of Ibadan Province, African Church Nigeria & Oversees; Most Reverend {Hon} Emmanuel Oyewole, African Church/Helpline Ministry UK/Southwark Council UK, with the acceptance from other bishops, Rhema college executive committee as well as the Elders and Church Council of Christhouse Bible Church.

He is the Founder and presiding Bishop of Christhouse Bible church, UK and the Rector of Rhema Bible College, UK

Academically, Bishop Theophilus Oluwasegun Akano completed Higher National Diploma {HND} in Animal Production and Fisheries from Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu Campus in Nigeria; went further for his post graduate studies and did his master in Education and psychology in Lagos State University {LASU}, Lagos Nigeria and later did some other notable courses here in United Kingdom and he graduated again from Nazarene Theological College {NTC}, 2014.

He is today happily married to his beautiful wife and they are blessed with a wonderful Son.

Bishop Theophilus Oluwasegun Akano is the presiding bishop of Christhouse Bible Church, UK and the Rector/ Principal of Rhema Bible College, an offshoot Bible College of the church and he is fully assisted by his precious wife.
